Background Analysis: US CDC Advisory Committee to Hear Agency Updates and Discuss Clinical Laboratory Interoperability and Biosafety – APR 13-14, 2016 (CLIAC)

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has announced that there will be a meeting of the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Advisory Committee (CLIAC) on Wednesday to Thursday, April 13-14, 2016. The Committee will hear agency updates from CDC, CMS, and FDA. Presentations and discussions will include methods for improving the effectiveness/efficiency of CLIAC meetings; an overview of the CMS Advisory Panel on Clinical Diagnostic Laboratory Tests; laboratory interoperability including the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) policies and engagement with clinical laboratories; update on laboratory biosafety in clinical laboratories; and future CLIAC topics.
